The constantly developing and evolving world of technology is of increasing relevance in our daily lives. This means that there is a continual and ongoing need for professionals skilled in computing, telecommunications and network systems.
The Computer Science  course  at Polytech trains young computing professionals over a three-year period so as to meet these ever changing demands. Students learn to master new concepts and tools. A solid grounding in mathematics and programming is part of this process. The graduate computer science engineer is able to design and implement  projects  that will meet the needs of the client, whether professional offices or companies (small or large scale).
An important aspect of this course is our link to research and development. Through  partnerships with  laboratories, students are able to gain experience and exposure to the world of research and development.  Throughout the course there are tutored workshops as well as generalised access to this particular area of expertise. In this manner, students can participate in and closely observe the research process in action.

The Computer Science course, is composed of the following five themes:

  • Science of Decision Making: this course teaches students how to design the tools required to analyse and model complex systems. These tools are used for the process of decision making. The course is taught at both a theoretical and functional  level and takes into account the continually evolving world of Computer Science.
  • Software  Engineering: Students learn the skills required to develop software that relates to all the relevant areas of concern: technical, functional, organisational or human.
  • Architecture, Systems, & Networks: This subject teaches the skills needed to design and implement networks and systems in single, multi-processor environments,  or in distributed systems.
  • Information Systems: the subject covers the various aspects of information systems (functional, organisational and technical)  from design to development and on-site implementation.
  • Project: this subject covers the different aspects involved in project management, organisational, technical or human. It takes into account various different contexts. Focus is not only placed on companies and commercial situations, but also in the field of research and development where management techniques such as quality control and schedules  are also of high importance.
  • Specialization - In (Semester 8) fourth year, students will specialize. They may choose from either: Information Systems or Architecture Systems & Networks. Our graduate engineers  are employed in a variety of areas. They include  consulting services networks, telecommunications, data management, gaming and multimedia. The fields range from banking, insurance, transport, logistics, production  to  agro-food  and health.

Polytech Tours gave an international dimension to my career. During my fourth year, I went to North America and completed my professional training there.
This not only helped me for my studies but led on professional opportunities and an understanding of my profession at an international level. After graduating, I went to Germany to work, and after that, to the United Arab Emirates for the Dassault group. After four years working overseas, I returned to France to work with Michelin as a business analyst  working on distribution solutions on a global scale.
