Urban and Territorial Planning and Environment in French


Presentation

The course is organised around a common core syllabus of 1 322 hours, where two thirds of the course are common to both streams. Then students choose among 2 majors 672 hours each
  • Urban Planning and Territorial Engineering
  • Aquatic Ecosystems Engineering Environments

The course focuses on the acquisition of a broad range of skills that teach students to understand and manage the multi-disciplinary nature of the profession. The curriculum covers a broad range of subjects: ecology, social sciences, economics, project development, planning and restoration.
The course balances academic and theoretical knowledge with practical applications, work-shops and fieldwork. This is further enriched by international exchanges through research and professional working experiences abroad.

The curriculum is based on different complementary teaching units and pedagogical activities.

  • Natural and Fundamental Sciences: Mathematics, Fluid Mechanics, Ecology, Geosciences, Information Systems and Processing, Information Management.
  • Sciences and Techniques (Specific to Planning and Environment): Ecological Engineering and Environmental science, Transport, Urban planning, Energy studies, Project management: science and technique
  • Economics Planning and Environment: Environmental law, Planning law, Geographical economy, Water economy, Sociology, Geography, Political sciences.
  • Legal, Human, Economic and Social Sciences: The main focus of this subject is to develop professional working and communication skills.
  • Project design and development
  • English and a second foreign language

The areas of application:
- Territorial and Environmental Analysis
- Planning, prospective and diagnosis of environments and situations in relation to the needs of the population now and in the future.
- Strategic and Spatial planning of Territorial Projects.
- Urban, Territorial and Environmental Design and Planning.
- Scheduling and setting up briefs
- The design development and implementation of urban projects and restoration projects in natural environments.
- Project co-ordination and monitoring – Site management and assessment until project completion.

Maxime
Polytech Tours course allowed me to discover the many  facets of planning such as transport and  environment. It taught me many other essential skills such as project management.  Skills that I use every day. Currently, I am a tourism consultant. In my day-to-day professional life,  I  deal with politicians, architects, building and construction companies – each  of these different professionals have their own viewpoint and opinion.  The courses at Polytech Tours, helped me understand and deal with these multi-disciplinary approaches, and have an understanding of the meaning of each person’s role and how to work together. During my final-year work-experience project, I discovered the field of tourism management and I  specialised in this area after graduation. I set up my own consulting firm and I consult on event management, land management and planning,  all in relation to tourism.
